What were you doing before MGH?

I took two years off after my undergrad to work in Germany teaching business English courses and to travel.

How is the workload?

It can be pretty demanding at times and then it’s important to budget your time and set deadlines for yourself. But it is possible to have a life outside studying as well, and many people in the program also find time to work part-time and travel.

What is the dynamic like between the students and faculty?

My undergraduate courses ranged from 30-450 students per class, whereas here they range from 30 down to single digits. The interaction is close and friendly and makes for a very positive and encouraging atmosphere in the classroom. The faculty is just as open as the students to feedback and input, making the courses and the program very adaptable both for the students and the professors.

What is Bremen like?

Bremen has a cool youthful feel and no shortage of living districts with completely different vibes. There’s a decent amount of night life and festivals, and for the long nights Hamburg is only a one-hour semester ticket’s ride away. Downtown provides a louder, more hip urban scene with restaurants, cafes and shops, while others prefer north Bremen’s country landscape and the periodic musk of cow floating in through the window.
