European Union Organizations and Funding

European Science Foundation

ESF aims at promoting quality science on the European level. The organization serves as a networking agency that brings together scientists and funding organizations. The priority is given to the cooperative projects, research networking programs, etc.

European Research Council

ERC is a pan-European organization that aims to support investigator-driven frontier research. If ESF is more cooperative project oriented, ERC offers different kinds of financial support for a wider range of projects, from individual to cooperative. Both national and foreign researchers are eligible as long as they are working in Europe.

The Seventh Framework Programme

FP7 is designed to support a wide range of participants: from universities, through public authorities to small enterprises and researchers in developing countries. This program is complementary to ERC, and also provides support for the programs based outside of EU.

The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency
